Cheer up your home this New Year with great goods at bargain prices

With most of us having a few days off over the New Year holidays, we've selected four secondhand shops that offer good quality products at bargain prices that are ideal for adding cheer to your home. At Pankan and SCAD, you'll great used furniture and your money will help underprivileged people and rescued animals.

SCAD
At Soi Cats and Dogs (Scad)'s shop on Sukhumvit Soi 71, shoppers can sift through a mountain of items donated by sympathetic Thais and foreigners, with all profits going towards finding homes for abandoned cats and dogs around Thailand. ReTails Too, as the shop is called, has everything from wooden cabinets to giant teddy bears at prices from Bt50 to Bt50, 000 and they're all in good nick.
People with a pet shaped hole in their lives should make their way to the hideaway behind the store, where about 20 adoptable cats and dogs are waiting to make new friends.

The Peter Pan Collection House
A century of Europe's culture and craftsmanship glints in the shop on Soi Thonglor, ranging from furniture, chandeliers and kitchenware to garments that were made between 1900 and the present day.
A new branch of the Peter Pan Collection House was recently launched on the second floor of the Esplanade.

Already well known from their original home at Bangkok Bazaar in Rajdamri Road, Papaya has now relocated to a threestorey warehouse on Soi Chokchai 4 (Lat Phrao Soi 55/2) and is piled high with everything from retro furniture to light fittings and ceramics to carpets, as well as artwork and accessories just begging for a home.
